DA demands answers from Zuma

JOHANNESBURG - The South African official opposition has said it wanted President Jacob Zuma to make public his policy on Zimbabwe following the possible collapse of the neighbouring country’s government of national unity.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) said it was looking forward to hearing from Zuma when he responds to the party’s questions in parliament next week. “President Zuma’s lack of drive or initiative on this issue suggests he doesn’t have a plan or a vision for Zimbabwe and is hoping that, by disengaging the GPA will miraculously sort everything out. Certainly his current manner differs fundamentally from his outspokenness prior to his election. As long as Robert Mugabe is part of the GPA, that isn’t going to happen. That is a reality the ANC government needs to start coming to grips with and amend their policy towards Zimbabwe appropriately,”
Athol Trollip, Parliamentary Leader of the Democratic Alliance said in a statement on Monday. On November 12, when Zuma responds to DA questions, the party wants to know whether the South African government under his leadership has a different policy towards the political and economic instability in Zimbabwe than that of the previous government’s policy of ‘quiet diplomacy’. Much was expected from Zuma when he took over from Thabo Mbeki earlier this year following his outspokenness against Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe over the years. He has however toned down his criticism of the aged leader since his re-election and maintained that the unity government was making progress.

This time the DA got their act right, it does not matter how much the ANC and ZANU PF hate the party in this case the DA is pointing what has gone wrong with the politics of former liberation movements in particular and the of African politics in general, that of denouncing colonial subjugation on one hand but practicing the same principle of disregarding the concerns and views of their citizens on the other hand.Simply put the liberation movement is content to replace the settler and continue the settler mentality and practices at best paying lip service to the people's wishes and at worst ignore them outright.What mugabe loathes is the white skin but he loves the lessons of treating the black majority as savage, ignorant and not deserving freedom to decide their fate in ways they see fit.mugabe, Zuma and the SADC know what the people of Zimbabwe decided in March 2008 the problem is they dont like the decision.The problem is they have an illusion that they know better, they are sup...
