Zim’s reconstruction: entrepreneurial flare Print

billionaireZimbabweans, need a new psyche, a new attitude, a new approach, which values work/production in an inclusive manner combining the abundant talent and creativity that we are know for.
The Book for us Christians, The Holy Bible, says that a man reaps what he sows. In other words, we can only get the development product, as a nation, which is proportionate to our effort. I strongly believe in this philosophy, which, to me, dispenses fairness to all mankind in the long-run.
It is my view that we need to encourage dialogue about the Zimbabwe we want to have for ourselves, our children and future generations. I challenge all Zimbabweans to this debate for development and reconstruction of our country. We need to realise that sustainable development can only be possible when our development strategies become inclusive in every sectors. And no single individual, sector, class, or party can deliver Zimbabwe without the active participation of us, Zimbabweans.

What is our focus?
What and how therefore do you want Zimbabwe to focus on in order to reconstruct and develop itself? Let us draw on our international exposures and experiences, share and collate these into a formidable weapon for uplifting our country. I would like to hear you in this column in the coming weeks.
As an entrepreneur and industrialist, I would like to kick start this crucial dialogue, by throwing into discussion the important role of entrepreneurship in national development. An entrepreneur is one who undertakes enterprise, an innovator, a visionary, who brings a dream to reality creating both jobs and wealth for a community. An entrepreneur is a rare and special species in any community because without it a community cannot add value to itself, cannot create jobs neither can it create wealth.

Nurturing entrepreneurs
My own assessment is that this rare species could be around 5 per cent of each community. It follows therefore that if any community aspires to prosper, i.e. become rich in worldly possessions, that community needs to vigorously identify and nurture all its entrepreneurs without partisan segregation. Entrepreneurship, although rare, is found in all endeavours of life: culture, commerce and industry, based on individual talent inspired by personal drive.
In the weeks to follow I will engage you Zimbabweans on this crucial matter of entrepreneurship development focussing on attitudes, legal and financial framework, institutional reform, empowerment and education. I hope to ignite in you, my country men and women, the desire to critically engage each other on these vital fundamentals of a miraculous reconstruction we all desire.
I invite you to walk with me criticising my views as you want, but most importantly offering practical solutions to the many problems of the absence of vision Zimbabwe finds itself in. To contribute e-mail: gsgonese@gmail.com
